Public relations in Vancouver, in two languages.
Oakfast is a Vancouver-based communications team working with companies that want to be understood here — not merely present. We handle the public story and the official one, for mainstream Canadian and Chinese-language audiences alike.
What we do
Media relations & press coverage
Story development, press materials, journalist outreach and interview coordination across mainstream Canadian outlets and Chinese-language community media in Greater Vancouver.
Launches & announcements
Product launches, office openings, partnership and funding announcements — planned as a sequence of moments rather than a single press release.
Government relations & public affairs
Stakeholder mapping, municipal and provincial engagement, briefing materials and delegation support, delivered with established public-affairs partners.
Spokesperson & media training
Message discipline, interview rehearsal and on-camera coaching in English and Chinese, so your founder sounds like themselves under pressure.
Crisis & issues management
Rapid assessment, holding statements, stakeholder sequencing and ongoing monitoring when a sensitive issue surfaces.
Bilingual communications
Messaging, materials and media outreach in both English and Chinese, for companies whose audience or investors sit on both sides of the Pacific.
Ongoing communications retainer
A steady monthly rhythm of content, media contact and reporting — usually more effective here than one large campaign.
Why Vancouver is different
One city, two media conversations.
A story that lands in a Canadian daily often says nothing to the Chinese-language audience that may be half of your market — and the reverse is just as true. Most agencies here are strong on one side. We work both, with the same team, so the message stays consistent instead of being translated after the fact.
We are also close to the official side. Municipal and provincial relationships in British Columbia are built slowly and used sparingly; we have spent years building them, together with our public-affairs partners.
Common questions
Do you work in both English and Chinese?
Yes. Every piece of work — strategy, copy, media outreach and spokesperson preparation — is delivered in both languages, for mainstream and Chinese-language audiences in Canada.
We are new to Canada. Where do we start?
Start with a paid consultation. We look at your positioning, audience and timing, then tell you candidly whether public relations is the right first spend or whether something else should come first.
How is PR priced?
Project work is quoted per scope; ongoing communications is a monthly retainer. Both are confirmed in writing after the first consultation.
