Architecture & the Built Environment
Studio-based learning for students building a portfolio, and for developers who want to read the North American development process from the inside.
- Module 1 — Design studio: brief, site analysis, concept, critique cycles
- Module 2 — Housing, density and the Vancouver model of urban development
- Module 3 — Zoning, permitting, community consultation and project economics
- Module 4 — Site work with practising architects, developers and contractors
- Capstone — Portfolio review and one-to-one feedback for university applications
Cell & Synthetic Biology
Our most in-depth track: a real laboratory experience in stem cell and synthetic biology, built with cooperating research institutes and hospitals in China and partners in the US.
- Module 1 — Foundations: cell biology, molecular techniques, lab safety and ethics
- Module 2 — Stem cells: types, culture, differentiation, and where the clinical frontier sits
- Module 3 — Synthetic biology: gene circuits, editing tools, and engineering biology responsibly
- Module 4 — Laboratory practicum: supervised bench work at cooperating CAS-affiliated institutes and hospitals, coordinated with Zhongke Jianlan and Oakfast Health
- Module 5 — Research communication: reading papers, keeping a lab notebook, presenting results
- Capstone — A research report, supervisor evaluation and certificate of practicum

CAS-affiliated institutes & hospitals
Through our long-standing relationship with Zhongke Jianlan, qualified students can be placed in supervised laboratory practicum at cooperating Chinese Academy of Sciences institutes and affiliated hospitals — real benches, real supervisors, real protocols, not a tour.
Oakfast Health
Clinical and health-industry context, mentor matching, and pathways for students who want to continue into medicine, biotech or health commercialisation.
US academic & industry partners
Collaboration with US institutions and life-science companies for summer sessions, lab visits and mentorship across North America.
Practitioner faculty
Lawyers, policy advisors, architects, developers and researchers who teach from current practice — supported by CCIM-credentialed expertise on the real-estate side.
Online + in person
Online seminars run year-round; intensive sessions and practicum take place in Vancouver, the US and China during scheduled windows.
Small cohorts
Typically 6–12 students per cohort so every participant gets supervisor time, not a seat in a lecture hall.
